Assalamu’alaikum
warrahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Your
excellencies the committees,
The
honorable adjudicators, and
Dear
audiences,
All
praises be to Allah SWT, the lord of the world who created everything in this
universe. Peace and salutation be upon our prophet Muhammad SAW, who brought us
to the new great civilization.
On this
grateful occasion, I would like to talk about “Poverty and Its
Solution in Developing Countries”
Dear
audiences,
Poverty
is the condition of having so low income or wealth, resulting in a minimum
standard of living condition. In its most extreme form, poverty can be defined
as lack of basic human needs, insufficient resources, both material and
non-material, such as income, housing, health service, education, knowledge and
culture.
The
World Bank measures the poverty in three stages. They are the welfare, poverty
line, and poverty indicator. Above all, the poverty is not only about
insufficient income or consumption, but also insufficient outcomes such as
health, nutrition and literacy, deficient social relations, insecurity, low
self-confidence and powerlessness. Poverty lines are cut-off points separating
the poor from the non-poor. They can be monetary or non-monetary.
Ladies
and gentlemen,
Poverty
is social phenomenon which has many causes including overpopulation, the
unequal distribution of resources in the world economy, inability to meet high
standards and costs of living, inadequate education and employment
opportunities, environmental degradation, uncertain economic and demographic
trends.
Dear
audiences,
In
developing countries, poverty is mostly caused:
Firstly,
by overpopulation, the situation of having a large numbers of people in which
the resources are too few and the space is too little. It encourages low
standards of life.
Secondly,
by low education in developing countries. The lack of education and illiteracy make
the government of developing countries cannot afford to provide good public educational
institutions. As a result, there are many uneducated people who have no access
to economic sources, they are unemployment which lead to high levels of
poverty.
Thirdly,
by the economic trends, some countries might experience strong income growth in
this period, but in the other period those countries experience low income
growth. Periods of economic recession affects young and less-educated people,
who may have difficulty finding occupations. Changes in labor markets in
developed countries have also contributed to increased poverty levels.
Dear
audiences,
Some
experts believe that poverty leads people to do the acts of violence and crime,
anger, desperation, the need for food, shelter, and other. Those kinds of
emotional feeling may all contribute to criminal behavior among the poor.
Moreover, people who grow up in poverty may experience lifelong problems
because of it. In fact, studies have shown that people who grow up in
persistently poor households experience more difficulties throughout their
lives than those who grew up in households that are above the poverty level.
The
poverty could be long-life problem that the people live in insufficient
condition in any aspects. When they couldn’t solve the problem, then it might
lead them to frustrate and suicide even.
Ladies
and gentlemen,
Solving
the poverty problems in developing countries is urgent for human right and
civilizations. Therefore the government should make efforts, a real policy to
prosper the citizen:
Instability
of politics in the conflict area must be stopped so that people can set up better
life and development. Acceleration of the economic growth in developing
countries is also important. Therefore, the government must encourage the
capitals to invest their money, establish companies and create job opportunities
for the unemployment.
Agriculture
and farming must be the priority of the developing countries to provide native
foods. Through this way, they don’t need to import foods anymore.
The
government of the developing countries should also provide sufficient health
facilities such as: hospitals, clinics, medicines and doctors.
Last
but not the least, education is also very important. Thus, the government of
developing countries also must provide good educational institutions, schools
and universities, to educate people.
In
conclusion, we can jump into conclusion that government plays a very important
role to solve poverty in the developing countries. Government should provide
occupation for unemployed, free schools for residents and improve the economic
structure so that the poverty rate can be reduced.
That’s
all my speech, thank you for your attention.
Wassalamu’alaikum
warrahamatullahi wa barakatuh.
